Formed as a project to showcase the musical abilities of Christopher Howard Lincoln and Colleen Bortscheller, Necronom was born in the early part of 1994. Some song material was written, with lyrical content discussed and partly implemented. The future of the band appeared very promising at this point, as the two had found that their musical and artistic ideas were more than compatible.

Unfortunately, towards the end of that first year of collaboration, Colleen was killed in a sudden and tragic accident. She was only seventeen years old at the time.

Determined not to let any of their musical ideas fall by the wayside and become forgotten in the traps of despair and loss, Christopher decided to simply push onward with the project. It had been transformed midstream from a team effort into a solo outlet for his grief and a means at reconciling with the cruel twists that fate can deal us all.

The songs of Necronom have become a sort of journey down the path of one man's mental and spiritual struggle with the death of a loved one. They are filled with revelations of beauty and ugliness, purest bliss and the darkest depths of pain.

Between 1995 and 1999, Christopher managed to put together quite a large amount of song material. This was no easy task, as the project had to be worked on while dealing with the memories of a relationship that was now permanently altered by death, including a separate journey that spanned the globe in order to bring Colleen's remains to their final resting place in accordance with her wishes. But in amongst all the strong emotions, strange travels, and seemingly lost days, Christopher did find the time to focus a portion of his energy into a positive outlet - the creation of music and the furtherance of the Necronom project, beginning for him his own personal journey to a form of closure.

In the year 2000, Christopher entered the recording studio at Toad Hall and laid down the tracks to what would eventually become Necronom's debut release entitled "Exordium". Also, during 2000, Necronom's efforts were picked up and released by the independent label, Winterthorn.
